On July 17, 2017, David Rodriguez — a recipient of the federal government’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) program — filed a class action lawsuit against Procter & Gamble Co. (“P&G”), in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida. This complaint is filed on behalf of all persons who are legally authorized to work in the United States, but who were denied the right to work because they are not citizens, permanent residents (“greencard” holders), refugees, or individuals granted asylum. The suit claims that this denial of the right to make and enforce work contracts is alienage discrimination in violation of 42 U.S.C. Section 1981.
